Touring Into Schools

Two performers dressed as crabs with cardboard shells and claws are pictured outside on a small stage. On the cardboard backdrop behind them, Boxville is written in large red letters.

Thanks to funding from Arts Council England, John Lyon's Charity and Barnet Council, we're providing 10 schools each term with a free theatre performance, introducing students to accessible, professional theatre.

Working with a professional theatre company, artsdepot will provide 10 (mostly) faith schools with a touring show, introducing children to innovative theatre, adapted to meet cultural requirements.

This project aims to ensure that young people in Barnet, who may not otherwise get the opportunity to see a theatre performance, can connect to the performing arts and doors to opportunity can open as a result.

In 2024, we worked with a panel of students across several schools to select a show that interested them, resulting in BOXVILLE touring to  primary schools in Barnet in the Autumn Term. Across 9 schools and 11 performances, we reached 1,045 students. We feel very grateful to all the schools in Barnet we collaborated with and the BOXVILLE team for putting on such a brilliant show.

In the Spring Term 2025, we will be touring a performance to secondary schools. If you are a theatre company or school who would like to be involved please contact fleur.adderley@artsdepot.co.uk
