This series of 4 free workshops is delivered by Seemia Theatre (Sara Amini), in association with artsdepot
The workshops will focus on forms of expression which do not rely on the use of text. Through these sessions, aimed at first-generation migrants, participants will use their body, voice and imagination to learn techniques and exercises to express themselves and connect with their inner creativity.
Workshops will explore:
- Body and voice as a tool for communication and devising / making
- Using memory as well as imagination to generate ideas and stories
- Collaborating with other participants to create / devise

This workshop can be delivered in English and Persian language.
This workshop is free to all, but we ask that Barnet residents who are attending complete this form.
Sara Amini is a performer, singer and the Artistic Director of award-winning international ensemble Seemia Theatre (associate company Oxford Playhouse 2024). From Iran, based in London, she studied BA Theatre Directing at Tehran University and MA Performance Making at Goldsmiths, London. She trained with Teatr Pieśń Kozła (Song of the Goat) Theatre Company and Ariane Mnouchkine, director of Theatre du Soleil. For Seemia, she has directed Evros | The Crossing River (Summerhall Lustrum Award 2018, nominated for Amnesty International Freedom of Expression, BBC world Service) and TAKE ON THIS (Barbican Open Lab 2022) .
In 2025, Sara will take her debut solo show to Camden People’s Theatre and A Play, A Pie & A Pint and direct a community project at Arc Stockton.
